If you need to spend the night outside your hotel, this is the place to go. Try the Ipanema bar We where there together for a beer at the ipanema bar. My wife and I were visiting Singapore and heard about this place and had to check it out for sheer curiosity. We had no intention of purchasing any sexual services, we just wanted to see for ourselves what this completely tolerated mall of prostitution in the middle of an otherwise very strict society was all about.
Basically we went from bar to bar having a drink at each place and chatting with the ladies. Since we weren't going to be real paying customers, we also purchased drinks for ladies that we chatted with as this is another way they make money.
EG: they ask you to buy them a champagne and they make a commission off that sale, fair enough! We spent all night there bouncing around from bar to bar, at first we were nervous to be in that kind of environment but we soon realized a few things: - everything is totally chill, anyone could feel comfortable just hanging out - the bars have different themes that are really fun - it wasn't as much of a "meat market" as we expected EG: it wasn't just swarms of skeezy guys scheming on scantily clad ladies , it's more of a party atmosphere Favorite bars include: - the karaoke bar 2nd floor I think - rock n roll bar top floor I think - ukranian bar top floor I think Overall I'd say it's just one of those weird, unique places that you should check out if you're feeling adventurous.
What can one say about this place, except different, certainly opens your eyes to other things this city has to offer. The Tower has a reputation for sleaze, which is probably deserved if you venture there during hours of darkness. I usually hit the food court for breakfast to enjoy Indian roti, and a Malay sweetemed coffee.
For decades I have frequented this place for the best roti in town, and I am pleased that nothing has changed. This is one food court that has not caved in to the trend of franchises that seems to be afflicting Singapore. Go and enjoy! I've heard so many stories about The Orchard Towers adult entertainment Center which includes the first four floors of this high rise building that i had to go see it for myself.
